Domestic Violence, the law & THE TOAD

I had just got home from work and was in the process of making some grub for dinner. Piper calls. She tells me she has some important things to tell me. Regarding something that happened last night with THE TOAD and his soon to be ex-wife, WDID. Here is a summary of the transcript of that call:

Piper: "While THE TOAD was visiting with his children last night, WDID showed up at his apartment ( note: Although THE TOAD was routinely spending the night at Piper's house, he did maintain an apartment in his name and I guess for visitation purposes ). WDID was drunk. Long story, short, she beat him up to the extent he was bleeding. THE TOAD had to call the Police and they arrested WDID.
DM: "She was arrested? Really?"
Piper: "Yes, she was arrested. You know, DM, she is an alocholic and has all kinds of mental problems ( Piper should know). I actually had to go over there to help with the kids. I did not want the kids to see the Police take their mother away in handcuffs".
DM: "That's too bad. Well, I'm glad it happened when Son was with me. All I'd ask is that you do not share this with Son. This is an adult issue, let's keep it that way. Why did WDID show up on his night to visit with his kids?"
Piper: "She wanted to talk to THE TOAD. I guess she is distraught over divorce and wanted to work things out".
DM: "Well, that's normal. The entire divorce concept is all new. I mean, THE TOAD just filed in May so there is an adjustment"
Piper: "No, she is just nuts. I can't believe you are defending her. You don't even know her".
DM: "Ok - anyway, I gotta run. Please make sure you keep this from Son.".

As it turned out, WDID was in fact arrested and charged with Domestic Violence. But that is where the truth ends. According the actual Police Report, WDID did show up at the apartment, but THE TOAD let her in. They were talking, maybe arguing. As the report goes, THE TOAD asked WDID to leave. As TS was leaving, THE TOAD apparently made a nasty comment, WDID turned around threw her keys at THE TOAD and hit him in the arm. THE TOAD then picked up the keys and threw them in a pond in front of his apartment complex.
WDID began fishing around the pond looking for her keys. During this, the Police showed up. The Police took everyone's story. However, the only way THE TOAD was able to get the arrest executed, was to have this then 8 year old daughter sign a statement against her mother, swearing she ( the child ) witnessed WDID throwing the keys. I understand couples fight and I understand we all want people to believe our story is the truth, but I find it morally reprehensible that a father would use his own daughter as a tool against the child's very own mother. But on this day, that's what, this prince of man, known here as THE TOAD , did.
One other not so small point that may have been missed. Who called the Police? Piper called the Police. And she called the Police because she was in her car, in the parking lot at THE TOAD's apartment complex. Apparently she had been checking up on THE TOAD during his visitation with his kids. She was there even before WDID had arrived. Whether or not THE TOAD was aware of her presence, who knows. But she was there in all of insecure, jealous fury......
WDID has been fully indoctrinated into the crazy, nutso world of Piper. Her life will never be the same and there is certainly more to come......
